Toe Walking in Toddlers Ayurvedic Treatment
Walking on toes is a very normal thing in toddlers (up to 3 years of age) and children who are learning how to walk. Gradually, they outgrow this habit and start walk normally. Toe walking is not a matter of concern if other developmental milestones are accurate in the child.
When Toe Walking Becomes a Problem?
If the child continues toe walking even after toddler age, it should be considered seriously as there may be an underlying disorder like autism, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy etc.
Possible Complications of Toe Walking Disease
Toe walking after toddler age may cause frequent falls, leg pain, inability to participate in games, difficulty to wear shoes etc.
Toe Walking Ayurvedic Analysis
Vata is the factor that allows normal movements, and when it becomes deranged it causes problems with developmental milestones in children. Vata is vitiated in mamsa (muscle tissue), asthi (bones), and majja (bone marrow) leading to problems with movement. The exact cause is unknown, but the possible reasons are beejadushti (impaired sperm or ovum), birth injuries etc.

Ayurvedic management include snehana (oil massage), swedana (eg: pizhichil), virechana (purgation), brumhana (nourishing therapy- eg: njavara thepp), siropichu (application of cloth soaked in medicinal oil/ ghee over scalp) etc.
Other systemic diseases and precautions to be taken
