Child Policy (When this Child Is Not the Patient)
Children accompanying patients is not a new situation for us. In fact, it is quite common. This can be managed very well well, provided the following conditions are clearly understood and followed. At the same time, always remembers that Matha is a treatment hospital, and the primary focus at all times is the care of admitted patients.
Care of the child:
The hospital will not provide a caregiver for the child. Complete responsibility rests with the accompanying family member. If the patient’s treatment restrictions do not permit full attention to the child, another caregiver must be arranged by the family.
Food for the child:
If the child has started solid food, that item and milk can be supplied from the hospital kitchen. Food will be served only at fixed hospital meal timings. If this does not suit the child’s schedule, food must be stored by you and given later.
Utensils:
All child-specific items such as flasks, containers, and utensils to keep food warm must be brought by you.
Refrigeration:
No refrigerator facility is available.
Bathing & warm water:
If warm water is required for bathing the child, you must opt for a room with that facility.
Medical care for the child (if needed):
The hospital does not have paediatric specialty services. In case of fever or illness, we can only refer the child to a nearby hospital with appropriate facilities.
Priority of care:
The needs of the child cannot override or interfere with inpatient treatment routines or hospital functioning.
Bedding & linens:
Hospital beds, sheets, and mattresses are strictly meant for patients only. Plastic sheets or child-specific bedding must be brought by you.
Diaper disposal:
A diaper disposal option is provided.
Washing child’s clothes:
Washing or drying clothes inside the room is not permitted. Clothes may be given to the laundry at ₹150 per domestic wash load, which is the standard charge for all.
Cooking inside rooms:
Stoves, heaters, or any form of cooking inside rooms are strictly not allowed.
Kitchen access:
Patients and bystanders are not permitted inside the kitchen.
If any other doubts, kindly clarify them with our team before admission, so that expectations are clear on both sides.
